Fools for Christ
Context:
King David wanted to move the Ark of God to Jerusalam. While moving it, one of the the choice men of Israel, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it. Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God. 8 And David became angry because of the LORD’s outbreak against Uzzah.
1 Sam 6: 14-16
14 Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod.
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.
16 Now as the ark of the LORD came into the City of David, Michal, Saul’s daughter, looked through a window and saw King David leaping and whirling before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart.
David, irregardless of his status as King, danced in public, with shouting and with the sound of music to bring in the ark of God into Jerusalam.
He looked like a fool in the eyes of Michal, Saul's daughter.
1 Sam 6:20
20 Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, “How glorious was the king of Israel today, uncovering himself today in the eyes of the maids of his servants, as one of the base fellows shamelessly uncovers himself!”
Many people around us are like Michal.
They deem us as foolish people and despise
1. Our effort to love, when we are rejected or not appreciated.
2. Our effort to try again and work hard, when we fail many times.
3. Our effort to dream, when we have nothing to our name.
4. Our effort to be faithful to God and the church, when they are out "enjoying" themselves.
BUT!
1 Cor 2:11
11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God.
1 Sam 6:21-22
21 So David said to Michal, “It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. 22 And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor.”
God has chose us to be different.
Deu 7:6
6 “For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.
1 Pet 2:9
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
So...
I encourage my fellow Christians to keep on and keeping on.
We are the difference, we can be, which Our creator made us to be.
