Hee!!! I din't break my promises today! Fulfilled.
I told God I'll go for svc even if I'm tired.
I told my mama that I'll be back to help her with housework.
I told dear dear that I'll meet him for movies:)
I told Tammy that I'll be there for tuition.

Photos taken with dear dear on the circle line to AMK Hub for movies.
Super blur.
Dear took them, NOT ME!
HAHA!

Dear's super cute.
Suddenly remembered that he said this...

You are my cat. And I'm your dog. SO our child will be catdog!

=.= I dun wanna have children already can!

We wanted to catch Monsters Vs. Aliens, but couldn't make it on time for the 5.40pm show. Instead, we watched Night at the Museum 2. Was quite lame throughout. Especially like the Einsteins, the 2 monkeys, Napoleon, the cupid angels, President Lincon, the evil pharoh and his "mighty army". I think Monsters Vs. Aliens will be funnier. With one of the cute monsters trying to flirt with a jelly in the trailer. HAHA! Can't wait to watch it next wkend. Sad that I'll miss watching Iced Age 3, cos I'm going Boston. Thank God I'm still able to catch Transformers 2 after I'm back!

Come & See -Exploring steps of our Christian faith

We tend to believe in things we see.
However, when we don't see it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist! Like our God.
John 4 is a story about a Samaritan Woman who Meets Her Messiah.
And beyond that, we look into how her faith has progressed through the chapter.

Prelude:
Jesus came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar and being wearied from His journey, sat thus by a well. It was about the sixth hour. A woman of Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.” For His disciples had gone away into the city to buy food. Then the woman of Samaria said to Him, “How is it that You, being a Jew, ask a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” For Jews have no dealings with Samaritans. (Jhn 4:5 -9)

-Jesus is a Jew.
-Jesus initiated to speak to the woman of Samaria, even though Jews have no dealings with Samaritans.
-Samaritans are "of a lower class" for they were decendants of the returnees of the Babylonian Exile.

4 steps of faith
1. Convenient Faith
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? -Jhn 4:10-12
-The woman of Samaria was filled with doubt as it's not possible to draw water without a pail and not even to say living water.

Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” -Jhn 4:13-15
-The woman of Samaria was willing to give it a try (you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water -Jhn 4:10) that if this Jew can give her this living water so that she will never need to go through all the trouble to come to draw water. Why not?

Characteristics:
-Tell me what you have, Jesus!
-If You bless me, give me something in return, I will then believe.
-I will follow You when it is convenient for me.
-Superficial & surfaced.

2. Cognitive Faith
Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”
The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. -Jhn 4:16-19
-The woman of Samaria began to believe, as Jesus knew what that was happening in her life! He engaged her in a conversation!
-Jesus was highlighting to her that He knows what pain she's going through (in those days, men could divorce their wives easily).

Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.” Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” -Jhn 4:20-25
-The woman of Samaria know that there is a God and started crying out for God, as no men in her life could satisfy her needs.

Characteristics:
-God talks and reasons with us, so that His revelations can come through.
-We know that God, you are here for us.
-Is there a place where I can really find God?
-What do I need to fulfill to find God?

3. Conversion Faith
Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He.” -Jhn 4:26
-God reveals Himself to the woman of Samaria and she has a personal encounter with Him.

The woman then left her waterpot, went her way into the city, and said to the men -Jhn 4:28
-The woman of Samaria left her waterpot, meaning that the daily care of her life no longer mattered.

Characteristics:
-God reveals Himself to us and we have a personal encounter with God.
-We are transformed and we no long remain the same as before.
-We do not worry about the daily cares of our lives- finances, relationship problems, etc.

4. Contagious Faith
“Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” Then they went out of the city and came to Him. -Jhn 4:29
-The woman of Samaria shared her testimony of Jesus in her life.

And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in Him because of the word of the woman who testified, “He told me all that I ever did.” So when the Samaritans had come to Him, they urged Him to stay with them; and He stayed there two days. And many more believed because of His own word. Then they said to the woman, “Now we believe, not because of what you said, for we ourselves have heard Him and we know that this is indeed the Christ, the Savior of the world.”-Jhn 4:39-42
-Many were saved through 1 testimony shared.

Characteristics:
-Sharing of our lives.
-Asking people to come and see! Look what Jesus has done in my life!
-Being a good testimony for Jesus.
-Influential.

On the side line:
In Jhn 4:8, His 12 disciples had gone away into the city to buy food for 1 Jesus.
-None of the disciples were willing to go (they were pushing the responsibililty to one another), as they being Jews had to bow down and seek help from the Samaritans.
-Jesus seeing this, probably volunteered to go Himself and the disciples who love their Rabbi all decided to go together.
-Jesus was trying to teach them to work with people they ostracise!

In the meantime His disciples urged Him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.” But He said to them, “I have food to eat of which you do not know.” Therefore the disciples said to one another, “Has anyone brought Him anything to eat?” Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me, and to finish His work. Do you not say, ‘There are still four months and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! -Jhn 4:31-35

Dear God,

I know the stage I am at and I know I can do even more at that stage.
I pray that I will not be complacent and I will always bow down in meekness and humility.
Fill my cup with Your overflowing anointing and love that I can fill those of others too.
And with all I am, use me just as I am, for You are a great God.
Nothing is impossible with you.
My weaknesses revealed in Your presense for I'm broken, when there's gradually more of You in my life.
But I look upon them as challenges and not hinderances.
For with You in my life, You made me courageous against all challenges.
I would be the change You wanna see, not the mere catalyst.
If leadership is the problem and also the solution, show me the way oh God.
Lead me to a good shepherd whom I can follow his footsteps and lead for Your glory.
Let my life be shared with the ppl in my life that it shines as a good testimony for you.
In Your love and life everlasting.
Thank you Lord. I love you.

Amen.

In God,
whose word I praise,
in God I trust;
I will not be afraid.
What can mortal man do to me? -Ps 56:4

Alert!
The following images might make you feel uncomfortable.

Half of my big toe nail came off!
First it was the right! (bottom pic) Now the left! (top pic) GROSS!
I hope the new one grows quickly. Else I'll be nail-less once it drops off man!

Went with dear dear to pick up his PSP charger at Wisma today. And we stood there for almost 10 mins watching Transformers 2 at the home theatre. Wonder where did they download the movie! I can't wait to watch it when it's on screen!

Met Sharon to shop at Bugis today! HEH! Bored with all the clothes in my wardrobe. Bought a striped top dress in the end. Sad to say, nothing else caught my eye. I wanna get t-shirts la!

And I realised.. coincidentally Sharon and I wore the same colour code today! HAHA!

Purple shoes..
And
Yellow tops

These photos are taken while waiting for the train which takes super long to get back from Changi Airport.

Today's bible study is about the Song of Solomon. Had lots of new relevations. Presence of God was really great. Pretty excited for the next one!

It feels really great to worship God and tell Him how much I love Him. Never will I wanna be busy with my life again. I just wanna simply have time for You, my first love. That's just enough for me. Draw me away, Oh Lord.

Once I have turn my face from thee
Yet You sought me and You cleansed me
Made me whole again
Jesus my savior, my beloved and friend
Your praises I bring
From my heart I sing
Draw me, O draw me away
Messiah today
to your presence to stay
O Jesus now change me and mould me
that I can be
Evermore true to thee
You are the shepherd of my heart
You have brought me to your chamber
My master and king
You light up my darkness
and gave me your word
that you'll never forsake me
nor no ever will leave me

I thank you God for loving me so much that my love for you is just insignificant in comparison to Yours.

Had the time of my heart with my dear Abba father:)

Gonna chiong one of my 3 page reflection now!

Astons & Timbre Chillout with Bestie Sharon!
LOVE YA!

We conquered the super budgeted casual dining at cheap 13 bucks for both of our meals, super long and steep flight of steps up to Timbre @ OldSchool, 3 more drinks and a plate of Buffalo Chicken Wings and of cos, the super enjoyment of taking photos accompanied by the great voice and music played by Amanda (a left-handed guitarist) and Pieo (who played the box drum). They were the second group who performed at Timbre that impressed me. The way she sing is just so her style. Undescribable! I love it!!! Gonna check her out on wednesdays next time! The first was a 3 guy band which blown me off by the song Bullseye by Black Eyed Peas (maybe wrong title or singer- cant find this song yet).

I love spending time with YOU! Sharon!

God is Good!
I met Besite Shing today.
HAHHA!!!! Both of us know that we are not working until the last time!
We sat at Vivo Subway doing ART. Like so old school pls.
Hehs! I passed the Baton of designing 某某人's photo album to him lo!
Thank You Bestie! You are the bestest bestie! HAHHA!
Seriously no discipline to do it on my own.
And I managed to finish XXXX's bday card.
Thanks to all of Bestie Shing's brainstorming of ideas with me.
Very very fun time with him..
Especially suanning each other.

These are the ugly pics Mr Lim took, while faking to take the water droplets on the glue.

After that, I went to meet gx at Douby.
We went Wisma's Sony to get his PSP charger which after taking the queue number and waiting for about 20 min, the counter person simply say, "out of stock". Sian half.
We then went Kino to shop, for my tuition kid's bday present.
About 9 plus, we ate at Macs in Taka and were chased off at 930.
We sat and chatted till about 10 plus and prayed tgt. It was gd.
Now, I have a better picture of where I'm heading to and a sense of purpose of what I'm doing.:)
Thanks dear!

On our way to supper with my closer friends, we saw a Woodbridge brand wine? beer? liquor? HAHA! Drink already will become sot sot. =.=

Talked about many many issues.
Brought up but nvr resolved.
Might be on the way.
But how much does it matter now.
Less than a month to go.
So be it.
Still doing my best.

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. -Psalm 118:24

Wednesday, May 20, 2009

Was out with Weiyi in search of XXXX's present.
Mission accomplished. YAYs!
Thank You Weiyi for accompanying me!
Haven found _______'s present though.
Before that, we met Yeetheng and Michelle at Macs while eating our lunch at like 4 plus=.=

Then I went to meet my mama at Lavendar to cut my fringe.
At first, I just wanted to cut it slightly above my eye brows.
My mum told the hairdresser, "剪短一点."
It became shorter.
My mum said again, "剪短一点, 很快长的!"
Then it became even shorter.
CMI seriously. I dun wanna take picture of it (you'll know when u see me).
Moral of the story: free haircut? the hairdresser listens to the person paying for it.

Went with my mama to my dad's stall at Aljunid. My mama goes there to help out every evening except Mon and Thurs. When we reached, I was the first to be served dinner (cos my dad asked me to chose the dishes I want). Then he took out steamed fish from the wok, which he said he specially prepared cos he overheard my mama and my conversation of gg to cut hair tgt. Touched. Later, he wanted to get a drink for me. As he couldn't drink too much water, he wanted to share with me -sports water (which has the pyramid logo), but I didn't want to drink that. Then, got me "Blue-jelly" drink. I wanna laughing my heads of at this, cos he meant blueberry drink.

I was sitting at the table right in front of the stall the whole time. Watching them serve every customer made me see that whatever I have now doesn't come easy. Each plate of curry rice is $2.50 to $4 (asam fish). How many they have to serve to have $10? 3-4 plates. $100? 30-40 plates? $1000? 300-400 plates? Taking into consideration of the rent of the place, the utility bills, pay of dishwasher, the rubbish collector and the plate collector, they don't really earn much.

Then, we ate tgt:) Like finally, aft all the customer crowd subsided. My mama and dad are super cute. Their conversation was quite hilarious. My mama keep reminding my dad that he's not supposed to drink too much water, cos he still owes the doctor 800g of water to lose in his body, while my dad is the one trying all sorts of means to get us to buy drinks so he can take "big" sips from it. Uber funny. It was quality time spent!

I learnt that even when we have money, we should spend it on what is neccessary. Like daily needs, transport and education. I will cut down on my shopping expenditure and whatever extra expenditure. Cos in the first place, I didn't earn that money that I have. Even if I do, it's still better to save for rainy days and more worthy causes like feeding the needy in mission trips and blessing my loved ones and friends around me. The same amount might look little to us, but it can do much more for others:)

This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. -Psalm 118:24

Sunday, May 17, 2009

This is Dr. Kim Sung Hae, who spoke in my church today. I really really like her a lot:) It's not about the talents she have or her biblical knowledge that impressed me. It's her childlike faith and love for God. Although she doesn't speak fluent English, she still preached, sang and prayed in English. Everytime she finished sharing her point, she would praise God. In the video of her missions all over the world, I see her dancing with joy in praise of the Lord. It's the attitude that counts.

It reminded me of the Psalm of David.
Psalm 23
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters.
3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the LORD Forever.

Sometimes, I feel contraint by the rules in church.
What's right and wrong? Who's to judge except God.
Many times I can only do what I can.
But is there a choice to not do what I think I can't?
Obligations.
Responsiblity.
Accountability.
Enables us to lie on green pastures?
Where's the liberity in Christ?
I don't desire to be great or even be noticed.
Or even expand my capacity or what so ever.
I just wanna be happy, be myself.
And be with You and those You placed in my life to love and be loved for who I am.

Just dancing and praising You without worries.
So what if I don't dance well.
So what if I don't sing well.
So what if I don't do what others say I ought to do.
So what if I don't meet expectations.
So what if I don't do things I don't like to do even if it's needed.

It's my choice.
And the heart matters more.
Don't you think so?
Heh! Went ting's house after svc!
Here's baby volt:) and Ada!

He's soooooooooo cute!

Be merciful

He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God? -Mic 6:8

1. To yourself

As Christians, we need to strive for excellence, but not perfectionism. It is an emotional sickness.
Excellence is just simply doing our best.
God loves us with his agape love. He is merciful to us by sending Jesus to die for us.

for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed -Rom 3:23-25

God loves us even if we are not perfect. It's not conditional which is based on one's performance rather than on one's being. Therefore, a perfectionist cannot be happy in this state of mind because nothing he ever does is perfect and therefore not good enough—and he can never feel loved for who he is.

Therefore you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.- Mat 5:48What then does "perfect" in the bible mean? It means complete, whole or mature.

In other words, being perfect, is progressive. A baby doesn't mature immediately and talks like a 40 year old man. Similarly, being perfect is a process.

Slowly, as we abide in Him, we bear the fruits of being perfect.

He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit - Jhn 15:5

Only to be release from this "perfectionism" mindset, that we truely can have the joy of the Lord.

2. To your neighbours.

"You shall love your neighbor as yourself" has appeared at least 9 times through the bible.
(Lev 19:18, Mat 19:19, 22:39, Mrk 12:31, Luk 10:27, Jhn 13:34 Rom 13:9, Gal 5:14, Js 2:8)

And in Mrk 12:31 is it said that, "There is no other commandment greater than these."

A friend loves at all times -Pro 17:17

It is regardless of what he/she does. We are not perfect and we do not expect others to be perfect too.

3. To your enemies.

It's easy to love those who love you- like your family, your siblings, your friends, your bf/gf. Anyone could do that.

What makes us so different then?

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you -Mat 5:43-44

In the book of 1 Sam, Saul attempted to kill David twice. But he was preempted. However, David did not kill Saul even though God was with Him and delivered his enemy into his hands.

That's what David said to Saul:

And indeed, as your life was valued much this day in my eyes, so let my life be valued much in the eyes of the LORD, and let Him deliver me out of all tribulation.” -1 Sam 26:24

What shall we do then?

They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, And fought against me without a cause. In return for my love they are my accusers, But I give myself to prayer. -Ps 109:3-4

Pray that...
1. We are not afraid to be merciful.

Say to those who are fearful-hearted, “ Be strong, do not fear! Behold, your God will come with vengeance, With the recompense of God; He will come and save you.” -Isa 35:4

2. We will not be weary of doing good.

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. -Gal 6:9

3. We will forgive and love- give them what they need, not what they deserve.

And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. -Mrk 11:25

Therefore I say to you, her sins, which are many, are forgiven, for she loved much. But to whom little is forgiven, the same loves little.” -Luk 7:47

4. We will do these (stated above) depending on the joy of the Lord.

Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. -Neh 8:10
