The JFK MuseumThe first thought of going to the JFK museum is.. what has this got to do with me? All I know is that Mr. John Kennedy is one of president of US. After this visit to the museum, I learnt that President Kennedy is a man of courage and change. He doesn't only talk about making changes, he believes that changes can only be made by courage that is within a person. More importantly, he advocated for the research on the cause of mental retardation and eventually other disabilities. That's probably how America became a pioneer place to accept people with disabilities in the society, e.g. by providing them with jobs. Moreover, due to this decision to build the research centre, many children were treated at very young age and were able to do better in living their lives and seeing hope for their future. He sure made me think of Ghandi who once said, "Be the change you want to see." Many times, it's easy to have great ideas (as our minds are realms of imagination) but it's difficult to execute it. To me, it might be easier for President Kennedy, as he is the president (who wouldn't listen to the president). However, it would be a difficult decision as well because he had to answer to his citizens. It's a double-edged sword about leadership- having the authority to make changes, yet at the same time you have to be accountable to people. On the other hand, being someone with no authority, we can learn to influence others but starting to 'do the change' and believe that one day, someone else would pass it on:)
There's always HOPE~
